Chilling email before mum, 8yo found dead

A woman found dead alongside her young daughter in a suspected murder-suicide at a multimillion-dollar Airbnb in Brisbane’s west told a colleague of her plan in an email.

Police forced entry to the Kenmore Hills property to perform a welfare check about 12.45pm on Monday.

Dr Tiffany Wilkes, 54, and her eight-year-old daughter were found dead at the scene.

Investigations are ongoing, but their deaths are believed to have been a murder-suicide.

The alarm was raised by a colleague who received a scheduled email from Dr Wilkes about her plan, The Courier Mail has reported.

Dr Wilkes was a prominent anaesthetist who worked as several hospitals across Brisbane, including the Princess Alexandra.

In a statement, Metro South Health said they extended their deepest sympathies to “those affected by this tragic incident”.

“As this matter is subject to an ongoing police investigation it would be inappropriate to comment further,” a spokeswoman said.

CCTV footage, obtained by Channel 7, shows the 54-year-old taking out the bins just one day before the shocking incident.

The mother and daughter were staying at four-bedroom home, which has been an Airbnb since at least 2023 and was sold in March last year for $2.5m.

It was listed for almost $1000 a night, with a five-night minimum.

However, the listing on Stayz no longer appears to be taking bookings, and the property is no longer listed on Airbnb.

The stunning single-level home sits on a 10,117sq m block and was built in 1994.

The home has two bathrooms with terracotta-toned floor tiles throughout the house according to a Realestate.com listing.

Luxurious features of the home include an 8m infinity pool and wraparound verandas that go out to the lawn and gardens.

The home is described as “rich in charm and character” and “utterly refined, peaceful and private”.

It also backs onto a quaint national park.

Neighbour Dirk Vandenbroucke told the Courier Mail, that he saw a lot of activity on Monday night.

“Then we were told something serious had happened …”, he said.

“It’s a very peaceful street, full of people way past their retirement days.”

A neighbour of Dr Wilkes said the mother had recently undergone renovations at her home in Norman Park, which had been vacant for two years.

“She would pop in occasionally to chat to the builders,” he told the outlet.

“She had renovations, so we thought once that was done, she would move in.”

Meanwhile, forensic investigators are scouring the residence to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Queensland Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Investigators are asking anyone with information or relevant footage to come forward.
